Alexander "Younger of Duffus" Sutherland

== Biography == }Alexander was born in 1554. He is the son of [[Sutherland-1530|Alexander Sutherland]] and [[Grant-4687|Janet Grant]].
Alexander was the eldest son and heir of Alexander Sutherland, 8th Laird of Duffus and his wife Janet Grant of Freuchie.
Alexander was "engaged" to Lady Elizabeth Sinclair, daughter of George Sinclair 4th Earl of Caithness and his wife Lady Elizabeth Graham. Alexander and Elizabeth were 2nd cousins, her grandmother being Elizabeth Sutherland of Duffus, daughter of William Sutherland 5th Laird of Duffus and Janet Innes.
There is some doubt whether the marriage actually took place. In any event Alexander died before his father and his younger brother William succeeded as Laird of Duffus.
