== Biography ==John (João) Drummond was born in Scotland in circa 1400, later migrated to Madeira Island, Portugal where he died in circa 1465. His father was [[Drummond-55|Sir John Malcolm Drummond]] and his mother was [[Sinclair-98|Elizabeth Sinclair]] Frutuoso, Gaspar, 1550. After the war in france, he went to spain to work for the king of Castile, where he stood until 1427. Came to live in madeira island, tired of the wars, where he occulted his origin (probably because he fought alongside the enemies of Portuguese crown) and became known as João Escócio (or Escórcio in archaic portuguese). In his deathbed in presence of his confessor (the local priest), authorities , his familie and nobles for that end summoned he declared his noble origin , as he was son of Sir. John Drummond of Sthoball and Cargill, Justiciar of Scotland in 1391, and Lady Elisabeth Sinclair, heir of Lord Henry Sinclair and count of Orkney and Caithness. And in turn he was nephew of Anabella Drummond, wife of king Robert III of scotland.In 1519, Thomas Drummond , lefting Scotland and travelling across the Atlantic Ocean arrived at Madeira Island, and there he meet the descendants of John Drummond "Escócio", and he in his return to Scotland brought with him an account of the life and descendants of John Drummond "Escócio" under the domains of the Portuguese kingdom, to his family Chieftain, Lord David Drummond. This relation was sent to the Great Concil of Nobles of Scotland, under the presidency of the Archbishop of Saint Andrews, after examined the facts and proven as exact the life of John Drummond they wrote minutes about it in latim, and in turn it was sent to the Descendants of John Drummond in Madeira with a letter written by Lord Drummond written in english to his cousins in Madeira Island.Drummond, William, 1st Viscount of Strathallan, 1889.
