== Biography ==
}:Alexander Erskine, was the son of Thomas Erskine, 2nd Lord Erskine and Janet Douglas. He married, firstly, before 9 October 1466, Christian Crichton, daughter of Sir Robert Crichton of Sanquhar and Elizabeth Erskine; and secondly, before 15 July 1480, [[Home-5|Helen Home]], daughter of Sir Alexander Home of Home and Dunglas and Janet Hay. He died between 10 March 1507/8 to 10 May 1509. :He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] and succeeded to the title of 14th Earl of Mar and 3rd Lord Erskine upon his fathers death before 1493. He also held the office of Governor of Dumbarton Castle.
