== Biography ==
}Alexander was born about 1380. He is the second son of [[Chisholm-906|Sir Robert de Chisholm of Chisholm]] and [[Haliburton-53|Margaret Haliburton]].
He succeeded as 8th Chisholm of Chisholm and Chief of Clan Chisholm on the death of his elder brother, Sir John de Chisholm.

:He married Margaret, Lady of Erchless, daughter of Weyland of the Aird. Mosley, Charles, editor. Burke's Peerage, Baronetage & Knightage, 107th edition, 3 volumes. Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A.: Burke's Peerage (Genealogical Books) Ltd, 2003, volume 1, page 780. Through his marriage, Alexander added the Erchless Castle estates near Struy in Inverness-shire belonging to his wife to those he inherited from his brother.

He passed away about 1440.
