== Biography ==David Barclay was born about 1294, probably in Fife. Not much is known of his ancestry.
He married Margaret Brechin, daughter of Sir David Brechin.
In 1320, King Robert granted him his father-in-law's forfeited lands, so he then became Lord of Brechin.
He was Sheriff of Fife in 1328.
