In 1426, 26 January, he, as son of Sir David Fleming of Biggar, was the recipient of a Charter from his cousin [[Fleming-3817|James Fleming]] of Bord granted all right he had as heir of his father to the lands of Bord and Menzean. This likely meant that James was in need of money.
===Family===The name of his wife is not noticed in source material but he is known to have had a son:
* Malcolm Fleming. Malcolm received a charter of the lands of Boghall and Haddockston, in Renfrewshire, on 15 June 1452 to him and Elizabeth of Houstoun, his wife; this likely the date of their marriage and these lands likely her dowry. After this date he is noticed as Fleming of Boghall. The lands of Boghall in Renfrewshire is in the Parish of Houston and Killellan. It is noticed in Scotland's national collection of Buildings, archaeology and industry.[http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/43384/details/boghall/ Scotland's national collection of Buildings, archaeology and industry]
