William Stanley, 3rd Lord Monteagle was the son of Sir Thomas Stanley, 2nd Lord Monteagle and Lady Mary Brandon.1 He married, firstly, Anne Leybourne, daughter of Sir James Leyburne.1 He married, secondly, Anne Spencer, daughter of Sir John Spencer and Katherine Kitson, circa 15 September 1575.1 He died on 10 November 1581, without male issue.1
