Sir John Rattray, of that ilk, who was knighted by James IV. He m. Elizabeth, dau. of James, second Lord Kennedy, and had three sons and one dau., viz.,
1. John, a military officer, who m. Margaret Abercrombie, but d. in Holland before his father, without issue.
2. Patrick,
3. Sylvester (both these successively heirs.)
1. Grisel, m. to John Steward, third Earl of Athol.

Sir John Rattray son of Sir Silvester was, as you can see by referring to the notes above, killed at the Battle of Flodden in 1513, along with a very large proportion of the other nobility of Scotland. In the confusion after this the Earl of Atholl (John Stewart, Grizel RattrayĆus husband) claimed the Rattray land.
