*John, Jarl of Orkney was the son of Malcolm, Jarl of Orkney. He married unknown daughter Grahame, daughter of Sir David Grahame. He died before 28 October 1312.*He gained the title of Jarl of Orkney. On 5 August 1279 at Murchil, Scotland, he swore fealty to King Edward I of England. *He succeeded to the title of 9th Earl of Caithness [S., 1030] before 1312, jointly.
