In 1414, he joined Sir Duncan (his father) in a grant to his kinsman of Craignish. On 12 July 1415, he witnessed a charter by his grandfather, Robert, Duke of Albany, pertaining to the lands of Kinnear in Fife. In 1431, he and his father made an agreement to exchange the lands of Menstrie and Glassary.
He married Elizabeth Somerville, daughter of Lord Somerville. They had one son, [[Campbell-1526|Colin Campbell (abt.1433-1493)]]
Archibald died sometime between March 1440 and 1442Historic Kilmun; [http://www.historickilmun.org/history/list-of-burials List of Burials], predeceasing his father.

===Family Legend===Celestine, son of Duncan, was studying at Glasgow University about 1440 when he suddenly died. A fierce snowstorm prevented the burial party from reaching the island of Inishail. The Chief of the Lamont family took pity on the man's father and allowed Archibald to be buried at Kilmun,Historic Kilmun website; [http://www.historickilmun.org/history/sir-duncan-campbell Legend of Celestine] thus beginning the tradition of Kilmun Parish Church as the burial place of the Campbells. ===Disputed Spouse===Balfour Paul indicates that it is said by a Mr. J R N Macphail that he also married a daughter of Murdac, Duke of Albany, Regent of Scotland, however there is no evidence of this unless she was a natural daughter. This marriage is also supported by the Clan Campbell Society. There are no children claimed to be from this marriage.
