Gilbert died young and the estate passed to his brother-in-law William Marshal husband of Isabel 4th Countess of Pembroke.[[#WPAM|Wikipedia:Aoife_MacMurrough]]
His father was Richard 'Strongbow' I don't think that Gilbert lived long enough to acquire this nickname.
