It has been claimed, without evidence, that Nigel Mowbray's wife Mabel was the daughter of [[Clare-25|Roger de Clare]]. However, Nigel's wife is NOT known for certain. All that is known is her first name was Mabel.
According to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, she was "probably the daughter of William de Patri" (William FitzPatrick (c 1122) who married Eleanor de Maniers).
The Project MedLands site states, "A manuscript record of the Mowbray family (many of the details in which relating to the early generations of the family are inconsistent with other sources) states that “filius Rogeri de Molbray primogenitus…Nigellus de Molbray” married ��filiam Edmondi comitis de Clara…Mabillam”[925], but her supposed father has not been identified from other sources."
