Most online researchers show Martha marrying Lee Prater, son of James Prater and America Hale. But the Census conclusively shows their son Leo instead married Betty Shepherd, and had a different set of children by her. While the marriage and children do not overlap, the 1930 Census shows Betty (would have been a 1st wife) back with Leo. So it doesn't work.

And the Leo that married Betty definitely was the son of James & America. Their son Frank shows on the 1880 Census, then the 1940 Census shows Leo and his son Henry living with brother Frank. The 1930 Census shows Leo & Henry with Betty.
