Alfred 'Chatman' PRATER

(6 Jun 1878 - 12 Sep 1926)

His parentage on his death record shows John Ingram and Sallie L. Prater. John Ingram must have been a stepfather, and his mother was carrying her previous Prater marriage surname. The question is whether he is the son of John W. & Sarah Prater or his father John D. and Sarah Prater? Alfred's 1918 WWI Draft Registration indicates he was working to support his mother Sarah Gillespie -- the Joseph Gillespie she married was born 1832, which would seem to me that Sarah married to John W. was his mother, not the Sarah married to John D.
