Wedding announcement fron a Lawrence Co., MO newspaper:
A New Year's Surprise
As has been the custom for some years past a crowd of relatives and friends
of Mr. and Mrs. George Wiiliamson met at their home north east of Aurora on
route 3 Saturday Jan. 1 1910 to celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary.
Before and after dinner was announced, of which all enjoyed heartily, the crowd
passed the timne in social conversation until two thirty when they were invited
out in the front yard, the day being so warm and beautiful.
So on after clustering there in groups, the surprise of the day took place
when Miss Lilla Williamson and Mr. Tom Gundy, of Harrisonville, Mo made their
appearance out of the front door and were united in marriage by Rev. F. E. P.
Britton of Aurora. Congratulations were extended by those present, some of
whom were completely surprised while others had had suspicions tho not sure of
what was to be.
The bride was gowned in a light blue cloth made princess, trimmed in creamy
overlace, buttons, and soutache braiding. She carried a cluster bouquet of
calla lillies. Her only ornament was a brooch set with pearls a gift from the
groom. The groom was in the customary black and both he and the bride wore a
Billiken pin, claiming 'tis their badge of happiness. The bride's going away
suit is a dark green with hat to match. After a few days with folks at home
Mr. and Mrs. Gundy will depart for Pleasant Hill, Mo, at which place Mr. Gundy
is in business.
Those who enjoyed the day and hope to enjoy more anniversaries with both the
parents and daughter were John Davis and family, Frank Norman and family, Clark
Williamson and family of Mt. Vernon, Julius and Warren Taylor, Irl Williamson
of Stotts City, Wessie Gundy of Harrisonville, Mo, Jim Hanley of Lone Tree,
