Esta M. Howson, age 88, of Glouster, formerly of New Marshfield died Tuesday June 7, 2005 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens after a brief illness. Born July 1, 1916 in Pomeroy, she was the daughter of the late Michael & Etta May Carter Largent and her step father Thomas Weed.
A 1934 graduate of Union Furnace High School, she was a member of the Carbondale Senior Citizens. She attended Greens Run Christian Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue Lowry of New Marshfield; a daughter & son in law, Carol & Greg Simons of Glouster; a daughter in law, Margie McLaughlin of Nelsonville; five grandchildren- Steve Lowry & friend Tammy Woodward of New Marshfield, Greg Lowry & friend Karen Kennedy of Nelsonville, Lisa Simons-McDonald & husband Jeff McDonald of Glouster, Danny Howson of Columbus, and Melissa Campbell & husband Tom of Nelsonville; five great grandchildren- Charlie, Kayla, & Mikey Lowry and Rece & Madison Campbell; one great, great grandchild, Kyle Lowry; a sister in law, Wanda Clark of New Marshfield; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents and step father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mont “Kitty” Howson, 1999, a son, Mike Howson, an infant sister Dorothy, a granddaughter in law, Sharon Lowry, and a great grandson, Brandon Lowry. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday 11:00AM at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home by her nephew, Buford Brown, with burial in Asbury Cemetery, Hocking County. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 3-8PM. Memorials may be made to the Brandon Lowry Scholarship Fund, c/o Alexander Futures Foundation, P.O. Box 204, Albany 45710.
