Mona McDonald Martin, age 73, of Athens passed away early Saturday morning, Oct. 7, 2006, after a courageous battle with emphysema. Born April 30, 1933 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Wilford "Hap" McDonald and Anita Howson McDonald Sidders.

Mona was a 1950 graduate of Waterloo High School, where she was a cheerleader. She retired as an accounting administrator for the City of Athens in 1994. She was formerly employed at F.J. Beasley Wholesale Co. and self employed with Martin Builders and Sun Electric. She was a member of Zion Church of Christ in Meigs County.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie (Roger) Watson of Athens; twin daughters - Judy Martin of Athens and Joy (Dennis) Kelley of Loudon, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Whitney Watson of New York City, Lindsey Watson of Columbia, SC, Zaccory Martin of Athens and Kaylor Kelley of Loudon, Tenn.; a brother, Eddie (Sandy) McDonald of Lenoir City, Tenn. and a brother in law, Harold Jake Jacobs of Barberton.

Besides her parents, Mona is preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Jacobs. Funeral service will be conducted Monday 1:00PM at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home by Roger Watson, her son in law. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may call Today (Sunday) 2-4 and 7-9PM at the funeral home.
