OBITUARY - Helen L. Prather
Helen L. Prather, 86, of Paxton, formerly Waverly, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, in The Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
She was born June 4, 1915, in Bainbridge Township of Schuyler County, a daughter of W. Henry and Geneva Maroe Dean. She married Keith Prather on Aug. 1, 1938. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1977.
Surviving are two sons: Ray E. (wife Maryalyce) of Paxton, and Roger K. (wife Linda) of Monticello; one daughter, Carol Rowe of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a teacher, retiring from the Franklin School District in 1975, and a member of the First Christian Church in Rushville.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Waverly East Cemetery in Waverly. The Neece Funeral Home in Waverly was in charge of services.
Memorials are suggested to Waverly Rescue Squad or Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
