DAR records have been incorrectly approved showing Holley Prater born in as the son of Brice Prater and Elizabeth Riley. I took the marriage certificate for Holley showing that his father is M. Prater to Washington D.C. in April but they would not accept that a generation had been skipped in the paper work that was submitted for DAR. -- Mary Merritt, 15 Jun 2011. Have reviewed the certificate and it indeed shows he is the son of M. Prater.

I have also seen one researcher have him as the son of Martin Luther Prater(1808-1890) & Nancy Lucinda Harpool, but I have no documentation to support this. I believe he was the son of a different Martin & Nancy Prater.
