William "Will" PRATHER sp

(1878 - 1938)

From what I've read, he was quite a character. Zora was listed in the 1930 census for Owen Twp, Jackson County, Indiana in Will's household as a servant. They were common law husband and wife and she used his surname. Because there is no marriage record, Gary's database shows them as brother and sister since they are buried next to each other. I've relayed this to Gary a couple of times, but it has never been corrected. Will had a barber shop for a while and the building is still there, although it's not maintained and will soon collapse. He also opened a 'bar', much to the dismay of the local community.  He was sued by his first wife Lillie England and her father for fraudulent marriage. -- Dan Prather, Email 26 May 2012
