In 1890 Rose Hulsey was raped by Charles Reign Prather, husband of her sister Hattie.
In February 1891 Rose gave birth to a boy nam ing him Lemuel, the product of the rape.
Rose and her son lived with her parents until her death. On18 Jul 1896, at the age of 20,
Rose Hulsey committed sujicide. Charles Reigntook Lemuel into his home, however he referred
to him a a nephew.
