Rev. Thomas Thweatt JONES ¤ DD

(23 Aug 1836 - 25 May 1903)

In 1860, he was a school teacher still living with his father. At the time he owned $6,000 real and $4,000 personal property. He became a Presbyterian minister, and served a while in Clinton,SC, where he met his wife's family. He joined the CSA, but was captured in 1862 at Ft. Donaldson. He was imprisoned for only a short while, for during the last two years of the war he was a member of the Virginia State Senate. After the war he was the minister at the Concord Presbyterian Church near his father's home. The church is 3 1/2 miles off US1 near Rawlings in Brunswick Co.,VA.
