Beatriz of Castilla

(1242 - 1303)

Beatriz was born in 1242, the daughter of Alfonso X, king of Castile and León, and his mistress Maria Guillen de Guzmán. In 1253 she became the second wife of Afonso III 'o Bolonhés', king of Portugal, and they had four children, of whom only Diniz, the future Diniz 'o Lavrador', king of Portugal, had progeny. Beatriz died on 27 October 1303 and was buried at Alcobaco.
