Obituary:Dennis L. Taylor, Former Knox County Sheriff, Died Sunday EveningDennis L. Taylor, 72, of 1114 1/2 Jersey, Quincy, a former sheriff of Knox County and resident of Edina, died at 7 o'clock Sunday evening, March 16, 1969, at St. Mary's Hospital there after having been a patient since Feb. 28. He was a retired carpenter and had lived in Quincy the last 23 years.Funeral services were at 9 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Boniface Catholic Church, of which he was a member, and burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Quincy.Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mary, Mrs. Kenneth Fielding of Saverton, a son Joseph Taylor of St. Paul, Minn., and five grandchildren.Mr. Taylor was born on a farm west of Baring, a son and the last of four children of Dennis and Elizabeth Welch Taylor. His mother, a native Knox Countian, was one of the first pupils to attend St. Joseph School here when the Sisters of Loretto came to Edina. Mr. Taylor was married Jan. 2, 1924, to Catherine Quinn and they were parents of three children, those surviving and a son, Thomas E. Taylor, who died Jan. 28, 1964. Mr. Taylor was sheriff of Knox County from 1929 to 1933.He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
