Waynesboro, Pa. -Vivian P. (Fahrney) Besecker Carbaugh, 89, of 9595 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, Pa., entered into eternal rest at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, in Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa., following a massive stroke.She was born on April 3, 1920, in Quincy Township, Franklin County, Pa.; she was the daughter of the late Ira B. and Ella Elizabeth (Newcomer) Fahrney. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.Mrs. Carbaugh married her first husband, Mr. Joseph L. Besecker, on April 9, 1938, and Mr. Besecker died Aug. 30, 1955. She then married her second husband, Mr. Walter E. Carbaugh, on Dec. 20, 1957, and Mr. Carbaugh died April 23, 1977.Mrs. Carbaugh enjoyed being a homemaker all her life.She was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Five Forks, Pa.Mrs. Carbaugh enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her family.She is survived by one daughter, Faye Stockslager of Rouzerville; three sons, Ronald E. Besecker of Waynesboro and Wilbur “Buck” Besecker and Gary Besecker, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; two step-great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice M. Hamsher of Hagerstown, Md., Reba J. Hoover of Waynesboro and Hazel I. Harbaugh of Cascade, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy E. Carbaugh; eight sisters; and five brothers.A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, in the chapel of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, with Pastor Ray Kipe officiating.
