Burial

William Francis “Bill” Warner, 68, Bloomington, died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 15, 2011) at his home.His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. Gregg Petri officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s School, Bloomington.Bill was born May 31, 1942, in Chicago, the son of William F. and Mary Edna Zellers Warner. He married Catherine M. “Katie” Nootens on June 1, 1963, at St. Alphonsus Church in Chicago. She died March 15, 2009.He is survived by two sons, William C. (Maria) Warner, Bloomington, and Jonathan Warner, Broomfield, Colo.; and four grandchildren, William Anthony Warner, Jonathan Stephan Warner, Amanda Catherine Warner and Alexander Matthew Warner.He was preceded in death by his parents.Bill received dual master’s degrees in education and English from DePaul University in Chicago. He was a secondary education teacher and also served as an assistant superintendent in the Chicago area for many years. Later in his life, Bill became involved in charitable fundraising for the United Way and the Red Cross. He later worked for the American Hospital Association.Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Order of Secular Franciscans.
