DAVENPORT - Private family funeral services and Mass of Christian burial for Glenn E. Thompson , 95, of Davenport will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main St. Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. There will be no visitation. Mr. Thompson died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa, after a brief illness. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Glenn E. Thompson was born August 23, 1915, in Davenport, the son of William F. and Corletta J. (Sternberg) Thompson . He was united in marriage to Georgetta Condon, August 31, 1940, in Davenport at Sacred Heart Cathedral. She preceded him in death February 26, 2005.
Glenn was a graduate of St. Ambrose Academy in 1933. He attended St. Ambrose College and received his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa. He retired in 1977 from Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co., Davenport, as Supervisor of the Electrical Engineering Division after 40 years of employment.
Glenn was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Loras Council 532.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Survivors omitted for privacy
Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Georgetta, his parents, and a sister, Evelyn Thompson . May they rest in peace.
