Mary Argenzio , 92, a retired florist, died Saturday at the Imperial Convalescent and Geriatric Center on the North Side.
Mrs. Argenzio and her late husband, Nicholas, founded the Argenzio Floral Shop at 1471 W. Grand in 1916. It was one of the first Italian florist shops in Chicago. The couple lived above the business and operated it for more than 50 years before retiring in the late 1960s.
Mrs. Argenzio was a volunteer at the Villa Scalabrini residential home in Northlake. She also was active in the Italian Women's Club and in several organizations that assisted Italian-American artists.
Survivors include five daughters, Roslyn Groot, Winifred Ursini, Beverly Argenzio , Marlene Mazzoni and Arlette Contento, an employee of the Chicago Sun-Times circulation department.
Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Rago Brothers Funeral Home, 624 N. Western. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.
