RITA J. DELCO MICHIGAN CITY, IN Rita Jane Delco, 78, of Michigan City, passed away with her family by her side at 5:45 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2009, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital. She was born July 25, 1930 in Michigan City, to Stephen and Pauline (Bonislawski) Suchminski. Mrs. Delco worked as a department head at Kresge Department Store, Michigan City, for nine years. As president and bookkeeper, Rita with her husband, Richard, grew their family business, R. Delco & Sons Plumbing, for 18 years. However, Rita's main emphasis was caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being a cheerleader to all she loved. Rita had a gift for being amazingly supportive and encouraging, which allowed her children to become strong, independent and unique individuals. She was affectionately known as "Boo" (Buzia) by her grandchildren and will be deeply missed. On February 12, 1956, in Michigan City, she married Richard Wayne Delco, who survives. Also surviving are three sons: Robert of Lowell, Randy (Darlene) Delco of La Porte and Ronald (Kimberly) of Crown Point; two daughters: Rebecca (Michael) Mellon of Chicago, IL and Renee Sexton of La Porte; two sisters: Mary Radke and Theresa (Charles) Novak both of Michigan City; seven grandchildren: Gabrielle and Gretchen Sexton, Ian Mellon, Mitchell and Peyton Delco, Joshua and Alta Delco; and her godchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Stanley Suchminski; and one brother- in-law, Arthur Radke. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service was held at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W.
