Amy J. (Falkowski) Sykes, age 53, a three year resident of Katy, TX, formerly of Moon Township, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. She was born in Sewickley on May 23, 1961 to the late Chester and Vernelle (Pungock) Falkowski. Sweethearts since age 14, she was the beloved wife for 29+years of Verde Sykes; loving mother of Austin Sykes of Oakdale and Adrian Sykes of Houston, TX; cherished sister of Cheryl Scherfel (John) of Rochester, PA, Mark Falkowski (Rita) and James Falkowski (Luann) all of Beaver Falls and Alan Falkowski (Diane) of Lake Orion, MI; sister-in-law of Sylvia Sykes of NC, Stephanie Sykes of VA, Tyrone Sykes of St. Thomas, L. Joseph Sykes (Jade) of NC, Shawn Sykes (Markel) of CA; many nieces and nephews; and her two favorite dogs Maxwell and Monroe. Amy was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. As a caseworker for the Allegheny County Department of Aging, she further helped the elderly in community service. She was a great mom, cheering her children on and getting involved and serving on boards for Moon Athletics. She was a great cook of all ethnic cuisine, American cuisine and hosted great super-bowl parties, Easter and Thanksgiving Dinners along with making Birthdays very memorable. She enjoyed life, laughing and was always fun to be around. Visitation Monday 4-8 PM at Copeland's Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Further visitation on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1201 Hiland Ave., Coraopolis, PA 15108. Burial will be private.
