Death

Mary Louise Ficks, 86, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and formerly of Mercersburg, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior November 8, 2021 at ProMedica Nursing Home in Chambersburg. She was born on September 7, 1935 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Ray and Lucy (Carbaugh) Deshong. She had been a cook at the Mercersburg Elementary School for many years. She enjoyed canning, gardening, baking, especially Christmas cookies at the Holidays for the family. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She had attended the Evangel Assembly of God Church in McConnellsburg. She had also attended the Mercersburg Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed attending flea markets and liked to buy depression glassware.
She is survived by her two sons: Michael E. (Beverly) Ficks of Mercersburg and Jeff Ficks of Mercersburg. She is survived by four grandchildren: Tracy (wife of Jamie) Piper of Mercersburg, Joshua (husband of Michaela) Ficks of Mercersburg, Teala Ficks of Mercersburg, Caden Ficks of Mercersburg and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Deshong of McConnellsburg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Ficks, two grandsons; Matthew and Adam Ficks, and three brothers, Elzie, Harold, and Melvin Deshong.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday Nov. 13th at 11:00AM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 L.W.W., St. Thomas with Rev. Norman Hege officiating.
