VERNA H. SLACK, 88, of 566 Harbaugh Valley Road, Fairfield, died Friday, Sept. 2, at her home.
Born in Smithsburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Flora Eyler Eighenbrode. Her first husband, Allen R. Harbaugh, died in 1942. He second husband, Charles R. Slack, died in 1978.
She had been employed by knouse foods and the Taneytown Rubber Co., for several years.
She is survived by a daughter, Reita G. Nagle of Fairfield; three step-children, James Slack, of Tacoma, Wash., Daniel Slack of Baltimore, Md., and Melvin G. Harbaugh of Littlestown; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a number of step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Eugene M. Michael Cline officiating. Interment will be in Fountaindale Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
