The sudden death of A. C. Ross, for many years a citizen of this community, occurred at his home last Friday evening, from a heart attack. Although his health had not been the best for some time, he had been at his shop most every day, even as late as last Thursday, when he was about his daily occupation. He complained of not feeling well Thursday evening and remained at home on Friday, but his condition did not become alarming until a few hours before he passed on, and he slipped peacefully away at about 7:15 p.m. Albert Charles Ross, son of James H. and Harriett Ross, was born September 18, 1867, at Dwight, Illinois, and passed away at his home in Francesville, Indiana, June 7, 1935, age 67 years, 8 months and 20 days. He came to Indiana with his parents when quite young, locating first at Monticello, Indiana, and later coming to
Francesville in the year 1878. On June 11, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary W. Davis. He accepted Christ as his savior in 1897 and lived a Christian to the best of his ability, and was a lover of home and his family.
He leaves, beside his widow, two daughters – Mrs. Opal Straub, of Chicago, Illinois, and Miss Alta Ross, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; also three grand children, Miss LaVergne Hoch, of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Mrs. Virginia Haring and Miss Janis Straub, both of Chicago, Illinois, and one grandson, Neal Kent Haring. One daughter, Miss Vesta Hoch,
passed away in August, 1925. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, June 10, from the Christian church, at 2 p.m., with Rev. John S, Van Orman in charge.
Burial was given in the cemetery east of town.
