Conrad was the son of Nicholas Rausch and Dorothy Reinfeld. Nicholas was born in Germany and was one of "the pioneers of what is now Berkeley County, West Virginia, where he was one of the thirty persons to purchase the first lots in the townsite of Martinsburg."

Conrad married Sarah (Randall) Roush (1793 - 2 May 1858) on 8 Mar 1814 in Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia.

In the 1850 U.S. Census, Conrad and Sarah were living in Maetinsburg, Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia. Their widowed daughter-in-law, Margaret, and her sons, George and Charles Roush, were living with them.

In the 1860 U.S. Census, Conrad was living in Maetinsburg, Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia. His daughter-in-law, Margaret, and her two sons, George and Charles, were living with him.

Conrad died at the age of 74 years.
