Leonard Joseph Shotkoski

Fullerton, NE. Leonard was born on March 16, 1931, at Genoa to Mike and Rose (Lesiak) Shotkoski. He attended Red Top Elementary School in Nance County and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1948. He served in the military from 1952-1954 and was stationed at Berlin, Germany. He married Joan Sock on September 29, 1956, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Krakow. They owned and operated Len & Jo's Supermarket in Fullerton for 42 years. Leonard coached and umpired baseball games for many years. He loved his family and the customers of Len & Jo's Supermarket. He loved to travel and spent many hours volunteering on the new Fullerton Track Complex. He was the president of the Berlin Veterans Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He is survived by his wife, Joan; their six children: Pamela of Fullerton, Gregory (Melissa) of Nashville, TN, Dale of Fremont, Terence (Deborah) of Washington, D.C., Steve (Amy) of Fullerton and Tony of Fullerton; one brother, Jim Shotkoski of Scribner; one brother-in-law, Keith Nichols of Fullerton; 14 grandchildren, two great-grand-children and his loyal companion, Mikey the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Reginald; and sister, Henrietta Nichols.
SERVICES will be Friday, July 20, at 10:30am at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Richard Whiteing will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery with military rites by Fullerton American Legion Post 151. VISITATION will be Thursday, July 19, from 5-7pm with a 7pm scripture service followed by Knights of Columbus rosary, all at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Catholic Church or the Fullerton Economic Development Corporation.
