FULLERTON -- Eleanora T. Lesiak, 84, of Fullerton died Saturday, May 29, 2004, in her home on her farm.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Krakow near Genoa. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be in Fullerton Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a 7 p.m. vigil service followed by St. Ann's Rosary, all at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mrs. Lesiak was born June 11, 1919, to Julius and Josephine (Nowak) Wozniak on their farm southeast of Fullerton.

Married to Charles J. Lesiak on 10-8-1940 at St. Peter's Catholic Church located at Fullerton, Nance, NE.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Charles, Sr.; six sons and daughters-in-law, John and Christine Lesiak of Lincoln, Charles, Jr. of Cedar Bluffs, Joe Lesiak and wife Charisse Hutton of New Haven, Conn., Dr. Laurence "Frank" and Eileen "Toots" Lesiak of Grand Island, Michael and Cherri Lesiak of Voorhees, N.J., and Anthony "Tony" and Cindy Lesiak of Fullerton; and three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Dr. Harold Eichler of Staten Island, N.Y., Mary Ann and Richard Coulter of Topeka, Kan., and Teresa and David Paal of Belleview.

Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Lesiak attended District 58 - Red Top school and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1936. "Ella" attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1940. The same year, she married Charles Lesiak.

Mrs. Lesiak worked as a private duty nurse, a part-time nurse then became a full-time night nurse at the Fullerton Memorial Hospital for 25 years. Concurrently, she worked as a farm and house wife while raising their nine children. Eleanora felt truly honored to be of service to all she encountered, whether as a nurse, friend, mother, grandmother or neighbor.

Ella loved to garden and raise various types of farm fowl. She avidly preserved garden produce for family and friends.

Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, tatting, quilting, reading, writing reciting poetry, fishing and trying new recipes. She was diligent in her correspondence with family, relatives and friends.

She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and St. Ann's Alter Society (serving as Eucaristic Minister and on various church boards). She was a founding member of the Nance County Chapter of the Red Cross, taught home nursing courses and initiated area immunization programs for children. She was a foster mother and was selected a Nebraska Merit Mother of the Year. She was a member of the American Mothers Association, Nebraska Right to Life and Cancer
Society's Survivor Program as an outreach worker writing and calling persons in need of support during her own 16-year struggle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
