Jean Nelson, Nurse: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Charlotte Observer, The (NC) - Monday, September 25, 1989 Deceased Name: Jean Nelson, Nurse 63, of 1235 Sherwood Rd. died Sept. 23, 1989, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Union Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, with the Revs. David Carriker and Drayton Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at McLean & Son Funeral Home in Gastonia. Mrs. Nelson, a licensed practical nurse, was born in Honeoye Falls, N.Y., daughter of the late William and Dorothy Barger Conklin. She was the widow of Brandon Nelson. She was a member of Bowling Green Presbyterian Church.She was a graduate of Honeoye Falls High School and received her bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Alfred University in Cornell, N.Y. She received her nursing license in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was a private duty nurse for 10 years in the Charlotte area, and worked for Charlotte Medical Personnel Pool, Brian Center, Hawthorne Center and the Methodist Home.Survivors are her son, Charles Nelson of Gastonia; daughters, Miss Cynthia Shue of Charlotte, Miss Christine Cole of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; eight grandchildren.
