Benton H. Shriner

Benton H. Shriner, 91, retired, 401 University Ave., died at 4 a.m. Saturday following an extended illness. He was the father of Albert B. Shriner of Muncie and Howard B. Shriner, assistant secretary of the Merchants Trust and Savings Company.

Mr. Shriner was born at Summitville, Ohio, January 12, 1845. He came to Muncie from Liberty, Ind. He retired in 1913. Mr. Shriner was the last of a family of six children.

Mrs. Shriner died four years ago this month (June 2, 1933). Surviving besides two sons living here are two daughters, Mrs. M.A. Stevens of Centerville, Ind., and Mrs. F.H. Hughes of Huntington, Ind.; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Meeks Mortuary. The Reverend Arthur W. McDavitt, pastor of St. John's Universalist Church of which Mr. Shriner was a member, will be in charge. Entombment will be in the Elm Ridge Mausoleum. Friends may call at the mortuary after noon Sunday.
