Dorothy M. Leisher

Dorothy M. West, 84, a resident of the Shook Home and formerly 4449 McKenrick Drive, Chambersburg, PA, died at 2:35 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in the nursing home. Born June 24, 1925 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles Clyde Leisher, Sr. and Letichue Kuhns Leisher. Mrs. West was a homemaker most of her life. She attended Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church. Her beloved husband, Carl D. West, preceded her in death on April 2, 1987.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Kathleen Hartman and husband Jay of Greencastle; a daughter, Sandra Fox and husband Denny of St. Thomas; a son, Richard "Dick" T. West and wife Suzanne of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 AM Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA or to Heartland Hospice, 1200 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17015.
