Mrs. Elizabeth Eastright Foster was born in Morrison's Cove July 18, 1837, hence she was ninety years old last Monday, July 18, 1927. She has been a helpless cripple for more than two years and can only leave her couch as assisted by her good husband. Because he was leaving town Rev. C. R. Gibson, her pastor, called in the morning to speak kindly words and offer congratulations. To express their sympathy for her physical infirmities, to congratulate her on being spared all these years, and to extend best wishes for the years to follow, a coterie of friends visited her in the afternoon of this birthday anniversary and brought sunshine and several useful presents.
Mr. and Mrs. Foster sat on the porch at a table crowded with good things to eat. In the center was a large cake baked by her grandchild, Lavetta Bowser. Nine candles were arranged on the cake to form the number 90. The guests spread their luncheon in the lawn at the porch's edge. An hour or so was spent in happy conversation.
Mr. and Mrs. Foster thanked the guests heartily for their coming and the gifts. Finally the customary parting greetings for such occasions were spoken by the visitors and in the evening twilight they returned to their homes leaving in their wake joy and pleasure to the aged couple.
Those present were: Mrs. C. A. Marnet, Mrs. W. H. Benner, Mrs. Clarence Bowser, M. R. Bupp, Mrs. J. A. Eichelberger, Mrs. Lawrence Hamilton, Mrs. Hamer, Mrs. McCabit, Mrs.J. M. Sipe, Mrs. G. A. Troutman, Miss Lottie Barr and two great grandchildren, Ruth and Jean Bowser.
