Death
David S. Battson, son of James and Eliza Battson, was born February 29th, 1848 in Casstown, Miami County and passed away May 11,1935, at the age of 87 years 2 months and 11 days. Most of his life was spent in Miami Co. having lived in Covington for 59 years. He was the last member of a family of eight children. On December 16th, 1873 he was united in marriage to Laura S. Urmey, and to this union six children were born. Two, a son and daughter died in infancy. His wife proceeded him in death two years ago in March. Surviving to mourn his loss are two daughters, Mayme Alexander and Mrs. Celia Hoffman of Covington, two sons, Evan Battson of Piqua and Cecil Battson of Lewisville, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 6 nephews, 2 nieces and other relatives and friends. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Elletsville, Indiana in his early married life. Also a charter member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge of which he was a faithful member.
