Sylvester BACONwas born in Pickaway County, OH Nov. 22, 1836, and is the son of Albert and Malinda (Welton) BACON. The father was born in Darke County, OH, June 3, 1803, and was the son of Uriah BACON, a native of Ireland, who came to America about the close of the American Revolution. He served in our war of 1812, and died in Shelby County, IL. Albert BACON was married in Darke County, OH, January 12, 1826: his wife was born in Green Count, OH, May 17, 1807. In 1846, Mr. BACON cane to White County, IN whre Mrs BACON died April 3, 1852. August 18, 1853, he married Miss MILLER, who died December 5, 1854. April 12, 1855 he married Parmelia SHOUP. In the fall of 1858, he moved to Missouri, but returned to White County, in 1862. In October 1881 he went to Los Angeles, California, where he now resides. Sylvester BACON was married in White County, January 2, 1859, to Elizabeth IMLER, born in Marion county, OH, October 5, 1838, and daughter of Henry and Hannah (Walters) IMLER. The only child - Loretta J. -is deceased. In July 1861, Mr. BACON enlisted in Company K. Twentieth Indiana Volunteer Infantry and for 8 days suffer incarceration in the Libby Prison. He was discharged in November 1862 and in 1864 he purchased land and came to this count to reside. In 1865, he engaged in merchandising at Star City, and in 1870 bought the farm of 165 acres on which he now lives. He is a member of the Star City Lodge, NO. 442 I.O.O.f., and he and his wife are members of the Christian Church.
