Monroe Richard "Dick" CARLETON

He graduated from Birmingham High School 1935.
He served in WWII in the Merchant Marine in Suriname and as Master of rescue
boat QS-58 in the Army Transport Service in the South Pacific (New Guinea,
Philippines, Okinawa). After WWII he served in the National Guard. His
primary occupation was deck officer on Great Lakes freighters, and there
attained the rank of Captain. (from Ruth E. CARLETON letters and diaries)

09/10/43-04/13/44 as Second mate of vessel Sandmaster. Honorable Discharge.
