Jacob Ulery STUDEBAKER

(17 JUN 1811 - 10 JAN 1890)

From "The Studebaker Family in America - 1736-1976", by Walter CARLOCK, Alvin Girard FAUST and E. Irene MILLER; 1976; page 173:
"The Miami Co. Guardianship File 432 has a paper signed by Jacob STUDEBAKER 17 JUN 1832 with late guardian, Jacob GUMP. These were presumably signed when the child became of age, or as soon after as possible.

'Moved abt 1835/6 to Delaware Co., IN from Miami Co., OH. Then moved after 1850 to Mctavish Twp., Johnson Co., KS. Sometime before 1870 had moved to Willow Springs, KS settling at Edgerton where they spent their remaining years. Sarah CARSON was related, perhaps niece or grand niece to Kit CARSON, scout and guide for Col. Fremont's Rocky Mountain Troops. She was certainly not Kit's sister as that Sarah was born 1788."
