James BOWLBY

James immigrated to the United States in 1855, and located in Kankakee Co., where he purchased unimproved land in Norton and Pilot Townships, and farmed until 1880. He moved to Herscher where he built a business house and was a merchant for ten years. In 1889 he engaged in the hotel business and was a hotel keeper until the fall of1892. His biography appears in PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD OF KANKAKEE COUNTY ILLINOIS, 1893.
