It is not certain just when Catharine CLAPPER was born and her place of birth
- her history is quite sketchy. We do know however that she was the daughter of Hermanus II and Catharine CLAPPER and that she married Frederick HERRING.
This is confirmed in Letters of Administration Bk. M-1 p. 431 dated 26
December 1808 in Huntingdon County in which Hermanus names his daughter as intermarried with Frederick HERRING. Like so many daughters of early settlers especially, she beame lost through marriage and her existence became totally forgotten. This was demonstrated by the fact that she was not mentioned in the "Brief History of the CLAPPER Families" 1915.
Catharine and Frederick were parties to a number of early deeds in Woodbury and Frankstown Twp. from 1797-1806 in which Frederick signed in German script.
They probably moved westward after that.

Frederick HEREN of Woodbury Twp. left his wife Barbara HERRON certain things but his 3 children shared the estate:
1. Elizabeth SHANE - daughter got 150 acres adjacent to Frederick's land on
Clover Creek. Warrant taken out in George SHANE's name and HERRON paid for the warrant and surveying - $1400
2. Mary SHRUM - daughter to get part of the tract known as Herronburg toward Tussey Mountain
3. Frederick HERRON - son to get lower tract of Herronsburg plus dwelling of
father.

Barbara HERRING, widow deeded certain goods, chattels, jewelry, monies of her personal estate to her son Frederick Jr. - Huntingdon Co. Ded Bk. 1-1 p. 296 dated 6 May 1803. Frederick Sr. was deceased and Barbara signed with her mark.
