Death

Lura Leone Barber Aughey, 96, formerly of Mifflintown, died Oct. 23, 2018, at 5:15 p.m. in the Lehigh Center in Macungie.
Born March 4, 1922, in Milton, she was a daughter of the late Fulmer D. Barber and Nellie (Brown) Barber. Her husband, Jay Elton Aughey, whom she married Feb. 7, 1942, preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Ray L. Aughey and companion, Robin Bernhardt, of Clarkia, Idaho, and Marlin E. Aughey and wife, Kathy, of York, one daughter, Joyce A. Hunter and husband, Kurt, of Orefield, one brother, Stanley Barber, of Lewistown, three grandchildren, Denise Aughey, Matthew Aughey, and Lauren Mitchem, one stepgranddaughter, Trinity Deibert, two great grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She worked as a seamstress earlier in life and retired in September 1984 as deputy register and recorder of Juniata County. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown.
She enjoyed crafts, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Guss Funeral Home, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Chris Mathiason and the Rev. William Esborn officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be a visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service at Guss Funeral Home.
