Parmer is a descendant of Walter Stewart, of Scotland, who married Marjory, a daughter of King Robert Bruce, whose son David became King of Scotland under the title of Robert II, in 1371, and established a line of Scottish monarchs ending in the person of James VI, who became King of England under the title of James I.
