Notes
Death
Sarah, widow of Lafayette Schoedler of Kutztown, died at the residence of her son, Rev. Dr. D.E. Schoedler, 1142 Chew. Allentown, Tuesday, at 5:30 o'clock, aged 90 years, 5 months and 18 days. The deceased was a daughter of Daniel Esser and his wife Elizabeth, nee Humbert.
Her father died when he was but 26 years old, and before the youngest of the children was born. She was the first child born in Kutztown after it has been formed in to a borough. Her husband died 27 years ago, since which time she lived with her son, Rev. Dr. Schoedler, in whose family she had a pleasant and comfortable home during the long years of her widowhood. Her oldest son, Herny D. Schoedler, who died 11 years ago, was at one time coroner of Berks. For the past 16 months she had been confined to bed with infirmities of old age.
She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of Grace Reformed Church, South Allentown, for which she made by hand many quilts and aprons, which always found a ready sale.
She is survived by these children: Rev. Dr. D. E. Schoedler, of Allentown; Mrs. Sarah Ann Gehret, of Reading, and Mrs. Mary E. Miller, of South Allentown, also by 37 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, and these sisters: Mrs. Rebecca Sheridan, of Delaware, Ohio, aged 88 years, and Mrs. Eliza Wink, of Kutztown, aged 86 years.
Burial will take place in Hope cemetery, Kutztown, with services in St. John's Church of that place, Rev. E. H. Lenbach officiating.
