Will

Franklin Co, PA Will Book C, p 7. "In the name of God Amen. I Joseph Shirk of Greene Township, County and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, do make this my last will and testament. Item. My will is and I do order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my Executors as soon as convenient may be after my decease. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith the Lord hath blesed me with, I give and dispose off in manner and form following, to wit:- Item. My will is and I do order and direct that the plantation and tract of land situate lying and being in Letterkenny Township, & County afsd. adjoining George Crider, formerly Wm. Beard, Frederick Shirk, Andrew Beard, containing
one hundred & sixty four acres, be the same more or less. Now in the possession of my son Jacob Shirk, and the other tract of land, situate in Green Township and County afsd. adjoining my son
Abraham Shirk, John Stump, Barnard Lutz, Adam Burkholder and others - containing one hundred and twenty five acres, be the same more or less, be sold by my Executors or the survivor of them by public or prived sale to the best advantage and empower my Executor or survivor of them to make deed or deeds in fee simple to the purchasors thereof. And the monies arising from the sales to be equally divided amongst my Eleven Children share and share alike to wit:- Casper, Frederick, Joseph, Christley,
Abraham, Jacob, Peter, Elizabeth intermarried with John Long, Barbara intermarried with Jacob Houser, Christina intermarried with John Leaman & Magdalena intermarried to George Sellars; And whereas I have given my bond together with a Mortgage to my grand-son Samuel Shirk, Son to my son John Shirk, for a considerable sum of money payable when he arrives to the age of twenty one which monies if paid by my Executors is to be in full of his share and in full of my son John's share, agreeable to conditions in the said bond and mortgage recited and remaining on record in and for the County of Franklin afsd. may at large appear and I allow him no more of my estate Whatever. And all my personal property to be equally divided amongst my eleven children first mentioned. share and share alike.
And Lastly I nominate and appoint my two sons Frederick and Abraham and my son-in-law John Long, Executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 1st day of April Eighteen Hundred and Eleven.
